HOMEMADE ALMOND MILK

I know it might seem like too much effort to make your own almond milk but the result is truly a game changer. I prefer to make my own almond milk whenever I have extra time such as the weekend, it really does taste so much better than the store-bought options. I prefer to make 1/2 a litre at a time as the milk does only last 2-3 days in the fridge, but this recipe can be doubled, tripled etc.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almonds
  • 2 cup water
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Soak 1 cup of almonds in some water for at least 24 hours. The longer the almonds soak, the creamier the milk will be. I recommend 24-48 hours.

24-48 hours later

  1. Drain water from almonds and add almonds and 2 cups of water to a blender.

  2. Blend the almonds and water until smooth.

  3. Use a nut milk cloth or cheese cloth to strain the almond milk from the leftover almond meal. Pour the almond milk in to the nut milk cloth over a bowl or jar that will collect the liquid.

  4. Gather the nut milk bag and press the remainder of the almond milk out of the almond meal. discard the almond meal.

  5. Add the maple syrup to the almond milk and pour the milk in to it's storage container and refrigerate.

  6. Enjoy your home made almond milk!
