MAPLE-NUT GRANOLA

Most cereals you buy at the grocery store are full of added sugars and other artificial ingredients that aren't good to be putting in our body's ever let alone at the start of the day. This granola is super tasty and easy to make and the ingredients can be find at any old supermarket!

Ingredients

  • 2 CUPS ROLLED OATS
  • 1 CUP PUFFED RICE
  • 1 TBSP WHITE CHIA SEEDS
  • 1 TBSP GROUND FLAX SEED
  • 1/2 CUP SHREDDED COCONUT
  • 2 TBSP RAW CASHEWS
  • 1 TBSP ALMONDS
  • 1 TBSP PEPITAS
  • 1/4 CUP MAPLE SYRUP
  • 1 TBSP CASHEW BUTTER
  • 1 TBSP RAISINS

Instructions

  1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 180 DEGREES CELSIUS

  2. COMBINE OATS, RICE CRISPIES, COCONUT AND CHIA SEEDS IN A BOWL

  3. CRUSH THE NUTS AND PEPITAS USING A MORTAR & PESTLE (IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE: PLACE THE NUTS IN A SANDWICH BAG AND SMASH THEM UP WITH SOMETHING HARD)

  4. ADD NUTS TO THE DRY MIXTURE BOWL.

  5. OVER A LOW-MEDIUM HEAT, COMBINE MAPLE SYRUP AND CASHEW BUTTER AND WHISK UNTIL COMPLETELY COMBINED.

  6. POUR THE MAPLE-CASHEW BUTTER SAUCE OVER THE DRY MIXTURE AND MIX IT THROUGH TO COAT ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS.

  7. LAY THE MIXTURE AS FLAT AS POSSIBLE OVER A LINED BAKING TRAY AND BAKE UNTIL IT'S GOLDEN BROWN.

  8. TOSS THE MIXTURE AND CONTINUE TO BAKE AND TOSS UNTIL ALL OF THE MIXTURE IS GOLDEN AND CRISPY.

  9. PUT THE GRANOLA IN A BOWL AND LET IT COOL COMPLETELY.

  10. TOSS THROUGH ANY DRIED FRUIT YOU WOULD LIKE, I CHOOSE RAISINS.

  11. PLACE IN A STORAGE CONTAINER OR JAR AND ENJOY FOR BREAKFAST THROUGHOUT THE WEEK!
